Commercial Boiler Service Role
This field-based role supports preventive maintenance, start-up, troubleshooting, diagnostics, warranty service, and repair work for commercial boilers and related hydronic systems.
Hoffman Mechanical Solutions is hiring Boiler Service Technicians for full-time, non-exempt field service roles supporting commercial boiler maintenance, boiler start-up, hydronic system troubleshooting, equipment repair, warranty service, and customer-focused service coordination across the Southeast.
Commercial Boiler And Hydronic System Service Work
The Boiler Service Technician role is responsible for preventive maintenance, start-up, warranty service, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair on light commercial, commercial, and industrial hydronic equipment.
This position works across hot water mechanical systems, custom boiler systems, pump systems, humidification systems, variable frequency drives, water heaters, electrical components, plumbing-related components, and other commercial mechanical systems.
Boiler Service Technician Responsibilities
Boiler Service Technicians perform customer-facing technical work in active commercial and institutional environments, supporting planned maintenance, responsive repairs, equipment start-ups, diagnostics, and service documentation.
- Build strong customer relationships and confidence in HMS products while understanding real customer needs and expectations.
- Perform technical support, repairs, overhauls, general maintenance, and start-ups on boilers, pumps, humidifiers, booster systems, VFDs, and related mechanical equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot commercial hydronic equipment efficiently and accurately.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through assigned product and equipment service work.
- Identify and communicate potential issues, needed parts, and service modifications.
- Maintain route planning, paperwork, inventory awareness, and routine service coordination.
Daily Field Service Expectations
In addition to hands-on boiler and hydronic service work, the role requires strong communication, computer skills, documentation discipline, route planning, and the ability to support emergency response or after-hours call-outs when customer needs require it.
- Use strong communication and internet/computer skills to support field coordination and reporting.
- Maintain proper records, service files, and documentation tied to work performed.
- Track routine maintenance work, inventory needs, and planned service action.
- Work with safety awareness, clean field habits, and proactive planning around site conditions and materials.
Boiler Technician Experience And Qualifications
Qualified candidates should bring a combination of technical education, HVAC field experience, boiler service experience, mechanical aptitude, software familiarity, and the ability to communicate clearly with customers and internal service teams.
- Associate degree or equivalent technical/trade school path in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning is preferred, with related field experience also considered.
- Operational knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software is preferred.
- Boiler, water heater, and pump repair or service experience is preferred.
- Ability to work with arithmetic, fractions, percentages, and graph-based information is included in the posting.
- Must pass pre-hire background, motor vehicle, and drug screening requirements.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Physical Demands And Work Environment
This field service position requires regular standing, walking, communication, hand tool use, lifting, climbing, bending, reaching, driving, and work in indoor and outdoor mechanical environments that may include heat, cold, moving mechanical parts, elevated work areas, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, electrical hazards, and loud noise.

- The role includes repeated lifting and carrying ranges, from lighter routine movement up to heavier occasional carrying.
